Occupy Wall St: What do they want?

Many have been asking what #occupywallst's aims are.  Well, they made their aims very clear in a statement read in the video below.  Right now, I am kind of stunned.  They are now referring to themselves as the 'General Assembly" and my initial reaction to this video is that it is a start of a straight-up revolution.  I feel like I need to take a breath and just sit on that thought for now; it seems too big to absorb in one go.  What do think?  Hot air or revolution?

Foxy Knoxy: A Tweeting Disgrace

It seems the world's press were in such a rush to be the first to slam the prison door in Amanda Knox's face that they incorrectly reported her guilty verdict as being upheld.  Sky News, The Mail Online, The Sun Online were all too quick off the mark and too light on the facts.

One reporter even tweeted a quote from the prosecutors saying they were "delighted" with the verdict.  What a chump!

Can we trust 'Breaking News' stories on Twitter or Online? Are online news organisations too twigger happy with their news gun?  Fire your views back at me!

Michael Jackson: A Vulnerable Death

I'm heartbroken to read the transcript of the last audio recording of Michael Jackson before he died, which was read yesterday during the trial of the Doctor accused of causing his death with a 'perfect storm of drugs'.

Heartbroken because it shows the vulnerability, the drive and the desperation that ultimately brought about his death.

"We have to be phenomenal. When people leave this show, when people leave my show, I want them to say, 'I've never seen nothing like this in my life. Go. Go. I've never seen nothing like this. Go. It's amazing. He's the greatest entertainer in the world'."

Reading this, it is clear that Jackson was as addicted to fame, adoration and perfection as he was to drugs.  The doctor who administered the drugs may not have used due care, but what pressure was he under to help Jackson meet his "phenomenal" goal?

The doctor is accused of failing to provide adequate safeguards in his care of Jackson, but really Michael lacked adequate care from everyone around him from a very young age.  The music industry; his family; his friends.

Someone should have protected him from being a victim of his phenomenal drive for fame before he turned to his perfect storm of drugs to keep that dream alive.

What do you think?  Is the Doctor responsible for Michael's death?

Not in My Name

The state of Georgia last week carried out the execution of Troy Davis.

Whilst I am saddened and disgusted that the death penalty still exists in the U.S, I know there are many Americans who share my revulsion.

If you are one of them, you can do something about it by signing Amnesty International's 'Not in My Name Pledge'

If you have time, I'd love your views on 'Why America Should Not Kill Troy Davis'.  Thanks for stopping by!

An Eye for an Eye

Is it ever right for to take another human being's life?

What if that person killed a police officer like Troy Davis, Georgia's death row inmate who is hours away from being killed by lethal injection.  There is persistent doubt as to his guilt, but even if he had done it, is it right to take his life?

My personal view is not; two wrongs do not make a right and it costs as much to keep someone in prison for life as it does to fund their death row appeals for 22 years.

What about Osama bin Laden?  I was glad to know that he had finally paid the ultimate sacrifice for the pain and suffering he had caused before and since 9/11.

Should it not only be an eye for 3,000 pairs of eyes?

I can't quite marry these two opposing beliefs in my head. Can you?

In the meantime, dead man walking...
